PREPARATION METHODS

FELDSPAR STAINING
Differentiates feldspar minerals by color, aiding in mineral composition analysis and enriching petrographic descriptions.

ALIZARIN RED STAINING
Targets calcite and dolomite for easy identification, useful for carbonate analysis and geochemical studies.
Samples are prepared in 25 mm or 32 mm diameter epoxy pucks, vacuum-impregnated to stabilize porous or fractured material. The surface is progressively ground and polished using a series of diamond abrasives, culminating in a final finish with 50,000-grit (0.05 µm) diamond powder. This ultra-fine polish ensures a scratch-free, mirror-like surface critical for high-resolution electron microscopy (SEM, EPMA) and automated mineralogy (QEMSCAN).
Prepared without heat to preserve fluid integrity, polished rock surface mounted to a glass slide using cyanoacrylate adhesive (super glue) for non-destructive detachment post-analysis. Precision-ground to 100–200 µm thickness and polished on both sides with a 50,000-grit (0.05 µm) diamond finish. These sections deliver unmatched optical clarity to analyse fluid inclusions within mineral hosts to investigate the composition, temperature, and pressure conditions of mineral formation.
Identification and analysis of heavy mineral grains that serve as indicators for mineral exploration, including their morphological and compositional characteristics. Used extensively in placer mineral exploration and sedimentary provenance studies.
Polishing services for rock and mineral specimens to a high-gloss finish, ideal for display purposes.
Specialized preparation of kimberlite samples, optimized for petrographic examination and diamond exploration studies. Essential for identifying diamondiferous rocks and understanding mantle processes.
We specialize in preparing thin sections from a diverse range of unusual materials—such as fossils, meteorites, ceramics, archaeological artifacts, building materials, and industrial products. With meticulous sample handling, precision cutting, and expert polishing, our team transforms even the most challenging specimens into crystal-clear sections, enabling in-depth structural and compositional analysis for research, quality control, or historical interpretation.
